NEW YEARS OUTFIT IDEAS

New Year’s Eve is always a glamourous affair. Whether you’re going out for Chinese food or stepping out to a stylish party. I love how anything goes on this evening. I will never forget when I watched Carrie Bradshaw head over to Miranda’s in the Sex and the City movie wearing comfy clothes, a big fur coat and a sequined hat on New Year’s Eve. It somehow looked so glamourous, and I’ve since been inspired by her glam pairing with casual. I thought it was so perfect how just one or two glamourous pieces can totally make an outfit look amazing.

One thing I am over is an all-over sparkly outfit on New Year’s. Don’t get me wrong, I love sparkles, but I think we tend to go a little over-kill on this fun night. However, unless you’re trying to pull off a retro look, you are not chained to the idea of wearing sparkles on New Year’s. Below I’ve pieced together three outfit inspirations for your New Year’s Eve outing. I’ve centred each outfit on one statement piece so it’s not over-kill.

Black on Black – It’s Not Basic

sleek and sophisticated

I love this blazer. Since the feathers stand out a lot, I muted the outfit with an all-black look. The feathers are a lot so you don’t want to go too crazy with colour. Keeping it one colour will let the feathers stand out, and give you a really nice polished look.

Feather Trimmed Blazer: TIBI
Leather Legging: CLUB MONACO
Heels: ZARA
Envelope Clutch: ALDO

Not A Bow and Ribbons Kinda Girl

edgy and fun

The gorgeous dress looks totally bad-ass with edgy pieces like a biker jacket and killer heels. The feathered clutch adds a little something extra for an upscale contrast. I really love this outfit. The sparkles on the dress and the feathers on the clutch are what make this outfit New Year’s Eve appropriate.

Encrusted Lace Dress: FRENCH CONNECTIONS
Leather Jacket: ZARA
Heels: STEVE MADDEN
Clutch: KATE SPADE

Romance and Dancing:

girlie and cute

If you’re a girlie girl you will love the flow and shape of this dress. I love the look of royal blue paired with gold, so I used gold as my feature items by pairing the dress with a chunky gold necklace and shoes that are a more neutral colour so the gold accents could stand out. Plus, that clutch makes the outfit look a little more trendy and cavalier with the faux-fur.

Dress: H&M
Necklace: MICHAEL KORS
Shoes: CHARLOTTE OLYMPIACharlotte Olympia
Clutch: ALDO

Do New Year’s different this year and step wearing something unexpected. You will turn heads for sure and ring in the New Year in style. You don’t have to stick with the typical sequins and sparkles, but rather put your own spin a statement piece.

Happy New Years!
