Trends for Men

As the summer season begins to wind down, we can’t help but get a little bit excited for the “layering season” to commence. Below are our Top 10 Hottest Fall Trends which were seen on the runway and on the streets during the FW14 fashion shows. From colour trends, to must-have pieces, right down to accessories – we have listed (in no particular order) this years cooler season essentials which will help you maintain that fashion edge and warm at the same time.

1. Slim Slacks
In the past few years we have seen slacks trend from super skinny, to straight and even at times loose fitted. Now, we have found ourselves within the balance between skinny and straight – the slim fitted slacks. Mind you, they’ve never been out of the picture but they’re definitely getting a lot more attention this season.

2. Shades of Green
We’ve definitely been seeing a lot of different shades of green on the runway. So, when it comes time to styling your outfit – don’t be afraid to collaborate different colours while utilizing one piece of green stand out as your staple piece. Or, if you feel ambitious enough – combine different hues of greens from head-to-toe. Just don’t over do it or you’ll end up looking like the Green Giant!

3. Mankets
Let me start off with stating that this is probably my least favorite out of all these trends! Although they are functional and provide an opportunity to add another layering piece to your outfit, I still cannot quite grasp this fashion concept. You might as well just take any regular blanket and wrap it around your head and neck. And really…the word – Manket?!?

4. Big Boxy Bags
For those of us who go to the gym during working hours, do yourself a favour and invest in a stylish big boxy bag. Not only will it comfortably fit your gym clothes, lunch and work devices but, it will also pair well with your work attire – as opposed to that free gym bag which they give away when you sign up.

5. Biker Jackets
If you want to keep it classic – keep it black. However, for all you risk takers and trend setters out there, if you have the extra funds then go with a stand out colour. Whether be a shade green (see number 2) or tan or any other colour you may be able to get your hands on keep in mind to keep it flexible. You want to make sure you are able to get ample wear out of it.

6. Camo
For those who invested in camo last season – start busting it out! For those who missed out – now’s your chance as this trend is vamping up in having an even stronger presence this year.

7. Roll-neck Sweater
Although some men may not like to wear anything wrapped around their neck as they feel restricted – this season the roll-neck was a huge success on the runway. As opposed to wearing the typical shirt and tie combo with your suit, try pairing your suit with a nice breathable, light weight roll-neck.

8. Clean Shaven and Wet Hair
With the next few months leading up to “Movember”, try to keep your facial hair to a minimum. Not only will this give you a clean slate (face) to begin your participation in Movember but, will also pair well with the side-part slick back hairstyle which we nominate as this seasons top hair style.

9. Felt Fedora
One of the most ongoing trends for fall is the felt fedora hat. Not only will this hat keep you looking stylish but, it is a great cover up during it’s time in need – whether keeping your head warm or hiding that bad hair day. Just bare in mind a felt fedora should not be treated as an “every day” kind of hat.

10. All Black with White Trim
As the summer season is coming to a close it’s about that time to dial back the colour chart a notch. With many major designers currently creating all-black looks with hints of white trims/piping while adding samples of monochrome patterns, it is easy to see that this just may be the most influential trend this season.
