Many of us mistakenly think that consignment shops are the same as thrift stores however, there is one aspect that makes them different – thrift stores sells donated merchandised whereas consignment shops split the selling price between the consignor and the store. Although, they both sell unwanted merchandise, consignment shops are a little pickier as to what can be placed in their store. Today, we “the queens of consignment” shoppers will give you our top 5 reasons why we love to shop at a consignment store and why we think everyone should give it a chance!

1. DEALS DEALS DEALS. When we go shopping, the first thing we look for are the sales sections and the clearance racks. But when we go consignment shopping we know that we’ll be getting a bargain all day, everyday. All consignment shops offer new and gently used designer merchandise for more than half the retail price. But keep in mind that these items are one-of-a-kind and when it’s up for sale you need to act fast and grab it, or it’ll be gone for good.

2. ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY. We were recently being interviewed by Green Metropolis and one of the questions asked was “How do you feel about the relationship between fashion and the environment?”. Our answer is pretty straight forward, “by recycling unwanted items it can help reduce the landfill waste”. In order for us to keep the air we breath and the land we live in clean, consignment is the way to go. You sell your unwanted clothes by getting rid of your “junk” and in return your junk becomes someone else’s “treasure”.

3. ONE STOP SHOP. Instead of running around to different stores to find a whole outfit, you can do all your shopping in one spot. Consignment shops carry a variety of items from clothing down to shoes, and even bags along with accessories to add that final touch.

4. DAILY INVENTORY. You’ll find new items everyday.

5. DESIGNER GOODS. When it comes to exquisite fabric, perfectly tailored and unique designs it may seem out of reach for most of us; however, owning a designer label is possible if you shop at a consignment shop. Trust us we are designer junkies on a budget.
