Fall/Winter is the season where we move away from the bright and neon of summer and go into deeper, sultry shades the season. What’s hot this fall is mixing deeper cool-tones and warm tones and making looks interesting by playing with textures. Here are some of the top hottest fall trends that have made their appearance on the Fall 2014 Fashion Runways and across the world-wide web on social media platforms reaching beauty enthusiasts all around the world.

SMOKEY BROWN EYES

This season is all about the sultry brown, but wearable smokey eye. The shadow should be the most intense near the lash line and smoke out as you move to the crease above the eye, and away from the bottom lash line below the eye.

BERRY & RED LIPS

This neutral smokey brown eye is often paired with a vibrant matte red lip or a berry coloured lip to compliment its subtle tone. Remember that a red lip always needs a good red lip liner so that the colour is longer wearing, and lips look crisp all day without feathering or bleeding.

METALLIC SHADOWS

A texture that never dulls is the metallic finishes. It gives any look a very interesting focal point to gaze at. Pair a metallic finish shadow or eyeliner with a natural/nude lip to keep the look clean and classy. A great look to try is using metallic against a smokey eye to make certain parts of your eyes instantly pop.

BOLD EYEBROWS AND NUDE LIPS

With all of the fall attire and colours that are incorporated into the overall look, sometimes all is needed is a natural clean makeup to tie everything together. Bolder brows give the face a much more youthful look. You can achieve bolder brows by trying a brow colour slighty darker than what you are used to, or thicken up the brows for a more natural finish. With the focal point being a nude lip, the makeup looks effortless, flawless, and complete without being overdone. Everyone’s version of a nude lip will vary depending on their skin tone and what they’re comfortable with wearing.

GLOWING SKIN, DEWY EYES AND LIPS

A timeless look that is ‘in’ for all of the seasons is natural, youthful, and glowing skin. This look is about putting highlight in the right places to allow light to make the skin look glowing. The highlighting products will work to define certain features that flatter the entire face. To achieve this classic look, add a shine to the eyes using either a very fine powder shimmer shadow or a cream eyeshadow. Next, use a powder or cream highlighter to highlight the high points of your face (nose bridge, cheek bones, cupids bow, chin, brow bone) where light naturally hits. Top off the look off with a translucent or an opaque shimmer lip gloss. The beauty in this look is that it requires you to take care of your skin and allow the skin’s natural texture to come through the thin layers of makeup. The point of this makeup is to define and celebrate your natural features, not to cover up all of your flaws.
