Outfit Of The Day: Featuring Two-Tone Phillip Lim Top

As most of us may know, Phillip Lim is a Chinese American fashion designer based out of Los Angeles. He co-founded 3.1 Phillip Lim back in 2005 with a business partner by the name of Wen Zhou – who is currently the creative director. Through his various designs for both men and women, it was apparent that his primary focus would be on ‘street elegance’. He pushed his clothing line to be dressy and sophisticated but, also have the flexibility to be worn on a casual day by adding that luxurious touch. By mid-2013 Phillip Lim, took on another challenge and lent his talents to one of the top retail chains in all of North America – Target. He opted to collaborate with Target, with a means to designing exclusive pieces for this particular venture and have them sold at reasonable and affordable prices.

As soon as news broke as to when this collection would be launched in Toronto, we sisters had lined up for hours just hoping that we would manage to score something from this collaboration as the prices were just too good to be true. Sadly though, we walked out empty handed as our sizes were the first to go. So what did we sisters end up doing? You guessed it! We decided to go on a hunt within the consignment shops within the area. This time we didn’t strike out and spotted this loose green top. At first, we thought it was too casual – that is until we turned the top around and took notice to the sheer blue material on the back. Not only did our mouths drop as to how beautifully the design was but, the price was just as affordable as the new line which had dropped at Target.
