5 Coats You Need This Winter

We have to admit, while a parka is great for running weekend errands, it looks markedly less good over a skirt and cable knit sweater. If we change our shoes and purses throughout the season, there’s no reason we can’t change our coats.

Here are five winter coats that not only keep your warm this season, they go with everything in your winter wardrobe.

The Camel Trench

The caramel brown jacket is soft, understated and elegant. Its tailored fit and warm wool material adds class, smartening up any outfit, and it’s a professional looking coat that dresses up work trousers—a look somewhat difficult to find in in other winter coats.

This jacket’s timeless shape means it will still be popular for years to come.

The Double Breasted Wool Coat

This oversize Englishman’s coat doesn’t look baggy. Overlapping flaps and symmetrical buttons add a timeless touch, and it’s a jacket that encompasses the wintery feeling. Like the camel trench, its wool material withstands the cold while providing a sophisticated look.

Regardless of the pattern you pick—cream and ivory, tweed or tartan—they all fit in perfectly with the season. Accessorize yours with a belted version or choose a jacket with oversize front pockets.

The Puffer

Whether you choose the longer fit or short super puff variety, this jacket and its 90s nostalgia keep you warm and stylish. In minus 30 degree weather, that’s ultimately what we need.

The deceptively fitted silhouette of the long puffer is filled with goose down to keep you warm from head to toe, in addition to being water and wind resistant. The super puff is every hypebae girl’s dream: trendy, oversized, and warm. You can be sure this jacket holds out against the season’s bone chilling temperatures.

The Teddy

Made of soft, fluffy material reminiscent of childhood stuffed animals, the teddy jacket continues to remain a popular style. Its plush faux shearling evokes serious feelings of coziness, while duffle fastenings and buttons keep the cold out. You can sport the mid-thigh cut or the cropped version, in a caramel, black, and chocolate brown colour.

This cool girl jacket looks great with cropped straight leg jeans and velvet red round-toe boots, like these J. Pliner pre owned designer shoes.

The Cape

The cape is by far the most stylish coat on this list—all practicality aside—and is perfect to wear en route to holiday parties and outings. Make a statement in a checked cape or stick to a monochromatic shade for a romantic, feminine look. Styles range from those that traditionally drape over your shoulders, held together with a simple clip at the neck, to ones with half-sleeves and fasteners.

Wool and cashmere blends ensure you have all the benefit of warmth, while long leather gloves add a classy touch and keep your hands warm.
